Fairfax Collegiate Summer 2026
Have fun and learn—while building skills that last well beyond summer.
Intro to Drones
Pilot drones and learn about their uses.
Fly small drones and complete obstacle courses, search and rescue missions, delivery simulations, photo and video assignments, and formation flying exercises.
Learn about FAA regulations. Program drones using a simple block-based language. Complete a multi-stage challenge requiring autonomous flight.
Students get an exciting introduction to drones. Instruction blends guided practice and team activities as students learn how drones work and how to fly them safely.
Students try out drone cameras to take photos and short videos and experiment with beginner-friendly tools for programming flight paths. Fairfax Collegiate provides drones and laptops for student use, and students work in pairs for most activities.
At the end of the course, instructors upload a collection of student photos and videos for families to access. Students leave with growing confidence in drone piloting and coding and a strong start toward exploring aviation and robotics.
