Math Care Intensive

The goal is not dependence on a tutor—it is a student who can identify key concepts, hold themselves accountable, schedule their work, and figure out how to excel in their math courses.

What’s Next When Math Gets Hard?

When homework piles up, a unit feels impossible, or next year’s course already looks intimidating, families often reach for quick fixes: another worksheet packet, another video, or a tutor who simply does the problem for the student.

Your student wants to feel confident in math. The harder question is: how do they become the kind of learner who can succeed on their own—between sessions, on quizzes, and when the course gets harder?

Fairfax Collegiate Math Care Intensive is one-on-one coaching with a matched Fairfax Collegiate instructor—live on Zoom, focused on building self-sufficient math students. It is not an open marketplace of strangers, and it is not another self-paced recording to watch alone.

Each package is a focused tutoring course delivered in private sessions. Support spans levels from pre-algebra through advanced high school topics, including calculus—so coaching matches the course your student is taking now.

What Self-Sufficient Looks Like

In Math Care Intensive, instructors coach students toward habits that last beyond any single homework set:

  • Identify key concepts: Recognize what a lesson or problem is really asking, and which ideas matter most before diving into steps.
  • Hold themselves accountable: Own practice, check their understanding, and follow through on what they said they would complete.
  • Schedule their work: Plan study and practice around class, tests, and the rest of life—so progress is intentional, not last-minute.
  • Figure out how to excel: Develop strategies for approaching hard problems, recovering from mistakes, and succeeding in their specific math course.

How Math Care Intensive Works

  1. Fill out the inquiry form below with your student’s goals, course level, and preferred times.
  2. Our coordinators match a primary tutor and unlock a prepaid package offer.
  3. Purchase the package, then book, reschedule, or cancel remaining sessions yourself within our scheduling policy.

Packages include a fixed number of sessions (for example 4, 8, or 12). You schedule against your assigned tutor’s open availability—typically up to 28 days ahead, with at least 12 hours’ notice.

How Each Session Works

Your student meets one-on-one with their matched instructor via Zoom. Sessions are built around the current course, upcoming assessments, and the skills and study habits that still stand between them and confident, independent work.

Expect clear explanations and guided practice—paired with coaching on how to review, plan practice, and check understanding between meetings. The aim is for your student to leave each session knowing not only what to do next, but how to do it on their own.

Pacing and difficulty adapt to your student’s strengths and weaknesses as the package progresses. Over time, the instructor steps back as the student takes more ownership of concepts, practice, and course success.

Why Choose Math Care Intensive?

Math Care Intensive is more than getting tonight’s homework done. Your student gets individual coaching from a Fairfax Collegiate instructor we match to their goals—aimed at building a learner who can excel in math without needing someone to walk them through every problem.

Instead of depending on a tutor forever, your student learns how to identify what matters, stay accountable, schedule their work, and figure out how to succeed in their courses—skills that transfer from unit to unit and year to year.

What About Summer Math or Summer Math Prep?

Summer Math and Summer Math Prep are group courses that build skills and prepare students for the year ahead. Math Care Intensive builds on that same Fairfax Collegiate teaching approach with customized, one-on-one coaching—especially valuable when a student needs help becoming a more independent math learner during the school year.

Many families use summer group classes for a strong foundation, then continue with Math Care Intensive when ongoing coursework calls for individual coaching in both content and study habits.
